Unless our society, especially the world leaders, put more effort in building up their mentalities into the spiritual states through building the authentic philosophical understanding and put into practise the nice things they orally express, there will be no change and no one in our human world can save us from the present on-going catastrophes specially the global warming and many sufferings that relate to it.

Technology has changed the landscape of my country Nigeria. With the advent of mobile GSM telephony, communication is made easy, business thrives and people's lives are being impacted positively. It's an example of how developing countries can use technology and innovation to grow and change peoples livelihood. Rural telephony will be another giant step that will capture 80 percent of my country's populace and connect them to the rest of the world.

I am working as a hotelier and I have to hail praise to the Principal Voices for changing lives. I am too engaging in the same direction and I have to say that all that we do to provide better futures will live on and make the world a better place to live.

In India we want this type of technology, but lack facilities for innovation, so we tend to depend on foreign engineers to solve our problem. I am very glad to know that in India this is happening. Why should it not be introduced as a commercial service for all the citizens to use high speed internet?

We don't need a big issue in this topic. Lets start by helping the person who is in the near. One man helping another man. If this process gets universal, we don't need any charity, organisation or something like that. I help my neighbour, you help your neighbour and lets wait for a while. We cant bring poverty at 0% but we can improve a little bit and help this world to be a better place than yesterday.

Hydrogen cars aren't good because you still need to make the hydrogen from other power sources, mainly fossil fuels, so, even though the hydrogen cars make no carbon footprint, the power plants that are needed to make the hydrogen will make more of a footprint!

The EV1 and other electric cars of its generation didn't fail because they were sluggish and expensive (hell every SUV fits that description); it failed because of a lack of industry support to stand behind cars that were ahead of their time. The cars were certainly popular with those who purchased them; however no effort was made by GM et al to promote them in the same fashion they do their other, gas-powered, cars.

Everything that is introduced to improve life is important and useful, but we must keep in mind that everything interacts so the main concern, besides help, should be to keep a balance. Nothing is absolutely good or absolutely harmful: oil, coal, biofuel, genetically modified food. Constant monitoring of the damages must be carried out alongside with the application of new technologies or use of new discoveries and have at hand an alternative for the moment when they have to be suspended in order to avoid damage.

I have always been of the view that each of these issues is a cross-cutting issue. Thus the need to link up, say technology and innovation to alternative energy as we address the issue of development. More important is the understanding of the underlying factors that are contributing to the current challenges.

I quite agree with Bill Gates that the technology of today will have no limits and that new developments in information and technology will bring urban and rural areas together.

Technology is uniting the world and at the same time accentuating global divisions. It's a natural effect. A new reality that must be found to validate the large number of benefits of innovation and technology.

Countries like Pakistan cannot receive the benefit from these reforms in technology, because the leaders of this country at least are not concerned about developments that benefit the common man. Too often development grants for infrastructure or technology have been not found their intended destination.

A very thought provoking discussion. There is probably an element of truth in both positions, that is, technology is uniting the world and at the same time accentuating global divisions. The former is clearly evidenced by increasing ease of communication across the world, which facilitates commerce. With respect to the latter, as technology develops the basic technological needs, like the telephone, might become redundant in the first world. This could mean that the basic needs of the marginalised will no longer be capable of being met.

Bravo to those who are passionate in bridging the gaps that separate humanity. Technology is a one of the reconciling tools in human history. We can use it well for bringing the world together and for creating a friendly world community. Darfur could be brought to peace if those there could be empowered to read and communicate with the rest of the world through technology.

I would like to encourage a dialogue between educated persons on the technologies that will adequately save us as a world community. Panic is certain. What I am recommending here is to distinguish between healthy panic and unhealthy panic. To resort to older technologies that have been essentially rejected is unhealthy panic.

Healthy panic is to do as much as possible oneself. This must include educating oneself. I belief debates on the promising technologies themselves will provide the unity necessary. We must make carbon accounting as accurate as possible. Intentional falsification of the most promising technologies shows up in carbon accounting.
